Yanardag, meaning "burning mountain" in Azerbaijani, is located on the Absheron Peninsula, about 25 kilometers northeast of the capital city, Baku. The main attraction at Yanardag is the continuously burning natural gas vents that have been ablaze for thousands of years. These flames, fueled by underground gas reservoirs, rise from the porous sandstone layers. Yanar Dag burns irrespective of weather conditions, ensuring that the flames are visible year-round.
Carry water and snacks with you, as amenities may be limited at the site.
Foreigner are required to fee an entry fees of 9 Manats to visit the site.
You can also buy a combo ticket which includes both Yanardag and Ateshgah Fire Temple for 11 Manats. This ticket is valid up to 72 hours after the first entrance.
Visitors are required to follow the rules and regulations of the national reserve to ensure their safety. You must keep a safe distance from the fire and not climb on the rocks.
Wear comfortable footwear as the terrain can be a bit rough for walking.
