The Chon Khong Zen Monastery was built in 1966 and underwent a long restoration period till 1995. The monastery is situated on the slopes of a mountain, with the giant statue of the seated Buddha on the slope, and a statue of Fate holding a lotus flower near the entrance. Within the monastery complex are an ancestral tower, the main hall, a meditation hall, a bell tower and a nunnery. The monastery complex provides a serene environment, a welcome change from the bustle of life in the city it overlooks.
