Maharishi Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is a revered site with deep historical and spiritual significance. It is believed to be the ancient gurukul (school) where Lord Krishna, along with his brother Balram and friend Sudama, studied under the guidance of Guru Sandipani. Situated near the Kshipra River, the ashram is a serene destination that draws pilgrims and history enthusiasts alike.
According to Hindu scriptures, this is where Krishna learned the 64 arts (Kalās), including warfare, statecraft, and music, from Guru Sandipani. The ashram symbolizes the ancient Indian tradition of learning and education. Being the very spot where Guru Sandipani coached Krishna, Balram, and Sudama, the ashram finds mentions in the Mahabharata, highlighting its mythological importance.
Adjacent to the ashram is the Gomti Kund, a mystical water reservoir believed to hold a blend of holy waters from all major rivers of the world. It was said to be created by Lord Krishna to serve his Guru. Visitors often take a holy dip here for blessings.
