Teluk Bahang Dam, Teluk Bahang Overview

The Teluk Bahang Dam, constructed in 1999, is the largest and the closest dam to the sea located in the Northern area of Penang, Malaysia. The dam is an excellent location to see some calm waters and beat the Penang heat. The pathway is usually not crowded, offering breathtaking views of the lake and the northern coast of the island making it a very picturesque place for photoshoots.

It is a few minutes’ drive from the Teluk Bahang fishermen village. The road to get to this wonderful dam passes via the lovely Teluk Bahang recreational forest and Penang butterfly farm. You can get to the top of this reservoir with the help of the steps provided at the centre that leads to a long broad path. You can see a few regular locals exercising and jogging but apart from that the dam is unexplored. You can enjoy a beautiful and scenic drive or bicycle on the road surrounding the lake. The dam hosts an exciting annual dragon boat racing festival when the dam is completely open to all tourists.
