How to Reach Sohar from India

Oman Air, Jet Airways, IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet and Air India Express can be taken to reach Muscat and Salalah from India. There are flights from Kerala (Kochi, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram) that fly directly to Salalah. After you reach Muscat or Salalah, you can drive, take a taxi or ride the bus to Sohar.

Visa Policy for Indians

Indians can apply for a tourist visa which is valid for 30 days. It is possible to apply for it online. Alternatively, you could also go to an Omani embassy. It will cost around INR 24,000.

Sohar International Airport began its international operations in July 2017. SalamAir operates to and from Salalah and Sohar with a frequency for four times per week except on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

How to reach Sohar by road

Alternatively, you can take a cab, or rent a car and drive to Sohar after landing in Muscat or Salalah. To drive in Oman, you are required to have an International Driving Permit. You can easily rent cars from companies like Speedy Oman, Sixt Rent a Car (located at Muscat International Airport) and ArabiaCars upon showing your international driving permit. If you do not have a valid permit, you can hire a cab to take you there. There are a lot of taxies stands throughout Muscat and Salalah. You can easily get one from the airports.

Local transport in Sohar

It is effortless to get around in Sohar as there are well-connected buses and many taxi-stands throughout the city. You could also rent a car in Sohar and drive around the city if you wish, as long as you have a valid international driving permit.
