Mount Aspiring National Park, Queenstown Overview

Mount Aspiring National Park is a natural beauty that is also famous for its trekking routes. This national park hosts some beautiful and adventurous walks around its premises.

The Blue Pools- This includes a trek to the blue pools which is a pretty easy approach for the kids to enjoy the summers with refreshing natural swimming pool lying in between the two swing bridges amidst the native beech forest.

Rob Roy Glacier- Hiking to the beautiful Rob Roy glacier is also a wonderful option. The trek to this undoubtedly beautiful destination is approximately 4-5 hours long that includes the return trip as well. It is a trek with difficulty level hanging from easy-moderate which offers some spectacular views decorated with a 600 ft high waterfall to enchant your soul with freshness.

The National park offers many more natural trails like the ones that lead to Routeburn, Greenstone, Wilkin valley etc. Mount Aspiring  National Park is full of short walk destinations.

There are several options available for accommodation in and nearby Mount Aspiring National park. Camping, hut stays, lodges and cottages all are available extensively at a very reasonable price. Mount Aspiring National Park is a hut of small walk destinations. Few of them are:-
  • Aspiring hut - it is a beautiful destination which can be touched through the gorgeous trail along the river flats of the West Matukituki Valley which is surrounded by huge mountains glaciers. It is an absolute fun destination for family trips and also for the ones who are new to the Kiwi backcountry hut.
  • Mt. Brewster track- it is a steep like that paves its way through a river crossing and then also includes a walk through the lush green forests. The end destination is a gorgeous snow-capped mountain with an iconic red hut that can accommodate around 12 people.
  • Siberia valley- it is altogether an enchanting experience to witness the natural beauty of Siberia valley that can be accused of Makarora either by jet boat, helicopter or on foot. It also offers a 20 bunk Siberia Hut that acts as a basecamp for longer walks.

The national parks host a huge area of 355,543 hectares which makes it the 3rd largest National Park of New Zealand. The exotic wildlife of the National park features 59 bird species which has been rewarded as 45 native & 14 introduced species. The park has approximately 400 species of moths & butterflies. The National Park is an emerald treasure with an iconic gem like wildlife to explore.
