Ugyen Pelri Palace, Paro Overview
Built in the early 1900s, Ugyen Pelri Palace is Bhutanese architecture at its finest, modelled on Zangto Pelri, Guru Rinpoche's paradise. It is a residence of the Bhutanese royal family and is not open to the public — but that is not a reason to skip it. It stands next to the Five Chortens of Paro and can be seen in its entirety from Paro Dzong, which is where most photographs of it are taken.
