Sheshnag Lake

Sheshnag Lake is an alpine lake in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir, at an altitude of about 3,658 metres, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, green meadows, and pine forests. It's named after Sheshnag, the serpent deity of Hindu mythology, and is considered sacred by devotees and pilgrims who believe the deity resides there.

Sheshnag Lake is a popular trekking destination and a key stopover for pilgrims en route to the Amarnath Cave, which is located further ahead. The trek to the lake offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape, including towering peaks and cascading waterfalls, making it a favorite among nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

During the summer months, the lake's crystal-clear waters reflect the azure skies above, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation and meditation. Visitors can also indulge in activities such as fishing and picnicking along the banks of the lake, immersing themselves in the pristine beauty of the natural surroundings.

Access to Sheshnag Lake is typically via a trekking route from Pahalgam, with the journey taking approximately one to two days depending on the pace of the trekker.
