The port city of Marmaris is located at Mugla Province on the Mediterranean Coast in South-west Turkey. It is situated on a mountain-ringed bay, opposite the famous Greek island Rhodes. Known for its isolated bays, luxury hotels and resorts and stunning coastline that extends into picturesque valleys, it is a popular holiday town for water lovers along the Aegean coast.
A centre for diving and sailing, Marmaris is an ideal location for adventure sports lovers. The turquoise-blue waters of the coastline, backed by valleys covered in pine trees, make for an ideal retreat. The historical town is full of castles and vintage residences to explore from the Ottoman Empire. The narrow cobbled pathways, alongside whitewashed ancient houses, mark a picturesque neighbourhood. Various ports lie in close proximity to the Old Town, and one can take a ferry ride to nearby Cleopatra Island.
Popular as a luxury cruise and yacht port, Marmaris is studded with aesthetic cafes, souks, cobbled pathways, seashores and restored buildings like the castle of Suleyman. Moreover, it is a harbour for studying natural history owing to the distinct environment at nearby locations, Heaven Island and Nimara Caves.
