Naggar, Manali Overview

A former royal capital, centred on a 16th-century castle that now operates as a heritage hotel. The village sits high above the Beas River with sweeping valley views, and the surrounding area has a quiet, unhurried character that's entirely different from Manali's tourist bustle. The Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery, housed in the Russian painter's former home nearby, is worth the visit alone. A good half-day trip, or a full day if you eat lunch at the castle.

There isn't much to do here and Naggar comes with little on its list of must visit areas. Hence, this one hill station lets you enjoy your break the way you want to. One can also enjoy trekking and camping in the area. There is also a hot water spring to visit here.
Other than these natural treasures, the town of Naggar also has a castle, Naggar fort, which has now been converted into a heritage hotel and tends to be the most popular tourist spot here. The castle also houses Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery, which was once the Russian artist's residence. One can browse through a number of rare artworks, the artists' private rooms and collectibles.
An equally rare side of architecture is seen in the Tripura Sundri Temple, which is a pagoda shaped wooden temple and the Jagatipatt temple which has alternate slabs of deodar timber, making it earthquake resistant.
