The Orange Parade in Kuching is a vibrant celebration held during Chap Goh Meh, also known as the Lantern Festival or Chinese Valentine’s Day, marking the 15th day of the Lunar New Year. A highlight of this event is the traditional mandarin orange tossing at the Malaysia-China Friendship Park, where singles write their names or contact details on oranges and toss them into the lake, hoping to find love. The festival, themed “Love Blooms”, features cultural performances, matchmaking activities, lion and dragon dances, fireworks, and a Chinese orchestra performance. Organized by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Midin Media, the event fosters community spirit and celebrates heritage. In 2025, the festivities took place from February 11 to 14, offering a blend of tradition and modern romance.
