Pristine blue waters, colorful corals and with more than 16 white sand beaches, Koh Samet is a gorgeous T-shaped island 200 miles from Bangkok. It has become one of the most popular islands of Thailand with countless tourists and backpackers visiting.

Koh Samet is known for being a weekend getaway from Bangkok for tourists. Boasting about 16 beaches with aquamarine sea, this island is a perfect destination for someone looking to relax and expereince a great nightlife. All the 16 beaches have a different kind of vibe from being a lazy bum, to a party animal, to luxurious resort stays, to beautiful scuba diving. The beaches are more busy and party oriented from Ao Phai north, and more family oriented from Ao Tubtim south. Being one of the most popular islands of Thailand, Koh Samet gets extremely crowded, especially during holidays. It faces a stiff competiton with Hua Hin in terms of luxury travellers. Being over crowded, it also faces environmental issues like Koh Phi Phi where waste is dumped anywhere.
