Kep National Park, Kep Overview
Kep National Park is located in the interior of Kep Province in south-east Cambodia. It is known for beautiful hiking trails, especially the trail 'Stairway to Heaven,' located amidst lush mountains, with many points offering lovely views of Bokor mountains and Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. Kep National Park Trails
The mountain trail circuit stretches for 8 km, which is surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife. The hike begins at the base of the mountain, which is indicated by a board with map details. The trail is easy, well-marked and flat. You can also drive bikes on this trail. Along with some beautiful viewpoints, you can also spot local wildlife, including birds, butterflies, squirrels, macaques and wild gibbon.
In a while, you pass through Led Zep Cafe, after which the trail branches into two. If you want some adventure involving a challenging hike amid nature, take one of the inner trails. If you're going to continue leisurely on a simple path, choose the mountain trail on the outside.
Stairway to Heaven
On the mountain circuit, a part of the stretch is famous as The 'Stairway to Heaven' as it passes through many points of interest. There are several of them that you can explore if you have time. If you are short on time, check out the pagoda of the Little Buddha, Phnom Kep, Nunnery and Sunset rock, which is a viewpoint offering excellent views of the coastline and nearby valleys.
It takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete this trail. If you are going to take up any of the interior trails, it'll take about 5 to 6 hours. It is not advisable to venture further after it gets dark.

Tips
If you are hiking for the sunset, carry a flashlight. And ensure that you get back before it becomes entirely dark as there are no lights in the park.

How To Reach Kep National Park
The main entrance to Kep National Park is located behind the Veranda Resort, which is off the main road. You can rent a bike or motorbike and drive on your own for 5 to 10 USD per day. Tuk-tuks and taxis are also available at Kep downtown.
