Muzhappilangad Beach, Kannur Overview

The Muzzhapilangad Drive-in Beach at Kannur is one referred to with many superlatives- as the longest drive-in beach in the whole of India, as one of the cleanest beaches of Kannur and most importantly, as one of the best drive-in beaches that the entire Asian continent has to offer! Being Kerala's only drive-in beach, it attracts the attention of many tourists around the year.

The whole concept of drive-in beaches is that you can drive right on the sandy shores of the beach- it is not very often that you get to drive along a 4 km long shoreline that offers an open road with no traffic and a stunning view.

Treat the adrenaline junkie in you and go out for some paragliding, parasailing, powerboating and many other water sports. The Muzzhapilangad Drive-In Beach is the perfect weekend getaway to blow off some steam and spend quality time with your loved ones.

What To Do at Muzzhapilangad Drive in Beach

As the name suggests, the Muzzhapilangad Drive in Beach is one of the rare beaches in India and the only beach in Kerala that allows vehicles to roam about its golden shores. If you enjoy driving, you must give yourself the opportunity to drive on the sandy shore of this beach- no speed bumps, no traffic, no turns; just a long stretch of a flat and open road that has a mesmerisingly spectacular view. It is a thrilling experience to drive along the shallow waters as the tyres make tall and splashing waves when you whiz by. The Muzzhapilangad Beach is quite a windy one, so you will have the shafts of the cool breeze playfully teasing you as you go around the beach.

You can also just lounge languorously on the beach and unwind yourself after a long week. The authorities have impeccably maintained the Muzzhapilangad Beach, so you can plop down your beach mat and start sunbathing in the nurturing warmth of the sun anywhere!

Don't forget to indulge in some action-packed water sporting activities! There are a variety of activities organised here that cater to both- adventure newbies and the adrenaline junkies. From parasailing to paragliding, from power boating to simple catamaran rides, this Muzzhapilangad Beach has it all. You can opt for different durations and difficulty levels in these activities, and if it's your first time or you're a little scared, you can have an instructor go in with you; so that he can do all the work and you can do all the enjoying.

Once you're done exploring everything this amazing beach has to offer, indulge in some mouth-watering delicacies of the Malabar cuisine. There are small kiosks set up on the shore by the locals that sell lip smacking, and traditional versions of many dishes of the Malabar cuisine and they are an absolute hit with all the visitors, especially tourists. The seafood here is popular all over the city, especially the prawns, pomfrets and fish.
