The Kite Museum of Jakarta was opened in 2003 to impart kite education to the citizens. Particularly fun for children, this museum helps organizing many exciting kite festivals and workshops where people design their own kites. Along with many interesting kite displays, watching movies based on their history is a must for the visitors.
The Kite Museum of Indonesia houses a collection of more than 600 kites from across the world. The museum was built by Endang Ernawati who was a huge fan of kites. The museum’s collection has been a part of several national and international festivals. Some kites are even award winners, having received honours from the Indonesia Record Museum.
The Kite Museum of Indonesia makes for a fun family outing. All visitors are mandatorily shown a movie upon entry. The movie speaks about the history of kites in Indonesia and the different kinds of kite festivals that are held in the country. They are then given a tour of the museum.
Visitors can cozy up and relax at the beautiful, leafy Japanese house or participate in the various activities that are hosted over here. The Kite Museum organises kite exhibitions, kite festivals and various kite decorating events. There are individual as well as group classes available for kite making, ceramic painting, puppet painting etc. You will be allowed to take back your creation as a souvenir.
