Hunter Tourism

Around 203 kilometres by car from New York, Hunter comprises two villages namely Tannersville and Hunter in Greene County. Known earlier as Edwardsville, the town is famous for the Hunter Mountains that offer excellent downhill skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, horse-riding and cross country skiing in winter along the miles of trails operated by Mountain Trails Cross Country Ski Center of Tannersville.

The Hunter Mountain Resort offers lodging, dining and skiing lessons. Hiking, hunting, ice-climbing and fishing can be enjoyed around the two campsites namely Devil’s Tombstone and North-South Lake on a day trip during off-season. Some parts of the escarpment trail overlook the New England States Mountains and the Hudson River. Picnics, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and camping are popular in Dolan’s Lake, Rip Van Winkle Lake and the two beaches. You can also enjoy the East Coast panorama from the Kaaterskill Falls or trek through the rugged mountains, gushing streams and valleys in the Catskill Mountains via Mountain Cloves Scenic Byway.
