Oshino Hakkai, Fujikawaguchiko Overview
Eight ponds fed by Fuji snowmelt filtering down through lava, in a thatched village that is a Natural Monument and part of the World Heritage listing. Free. The trap is well documented: two of the pools visitors queue and pay for, Naka-ike and Koi-no-ike, are privately owned and artificial, not part of the eight at all. The village now posts maps saying so.
