Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory Tour

The Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory offers a tour for anyone who wishes to learn more about the authentic Sri Lankan tea. The tour usually lasts for two hours. The tour commences with a short lecture on the different types of tea and the various procedures which go into making the tea. The tour takes you through the process of the different stages and the machinery which goes into making the tea.

The fantastic tour comes to an end with a tasting session of the aromatic teas of the factory. So, sip on and take in the fragrance of the drink while you lose yourself in the picturesque views of the tea bushes and a vast stretch of mountains. Lastly, you will be taken to the tea shop where you will find different varieties of tea with some attractive packaging. The tea can surely act as a fantastic souvenir to take back home.

The Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory has grown into a big business today, and they are one of the largest exporters of tea in Sri Lanka. How To Reach Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory

There is an option of riding the bus going towards Bandarawela. From Bandarawela get off at the junction of Kumbawela and go towards the direction of Badulla. After this, get off near the Halpe temple from where it is steep almost 2 km walk to the Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory.

If you do not wish to ride the bus, you may also hire a private three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) which should not charge you more than SLR 1000 for a return trip.
