The Golden Triangle in Thailand is that part of the natural terrain which islands situated in the far northern region of Thailand, in between the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. The landmass is triangular is a shape and is precisely located at the confluence of River Mekong and River Ruak. It occupies and area of a little less than a million square kilometres. The borders of the three countries consist mostly of densely forested mountains and the Golden Triangle overlaps with the mountainous terrain.
