Chania Lighthouse, Chania Overview

Located at the entrance of the old Venetian port in Chania, Chania Lighthouse is 26 meters long and is marked as an archaeological site. Its construction dates back to the 16th century when the Venetians ruled Crete, making it one of the oldest lighthouses in the world.

The Chania Lighthouse was built by the Venetians in the 16th century.  The architectural style is quite fascinating as the tower is built with stone. Today, the lighthouse ceases to operate. However, you can witness the majestic view of the harbor or the sunset. To reach Chania Lighthouse, one can take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque harbor promenade. The walk provides an opportunity to soak in the atmosphere of the old town with its narrow alleys, vibrant shops, and waterfront tavernas. The lighthouse is easily accessible on foot, and the journey itself becomes part of the overall experience.
