Berlin's Siegess_ule, or the Victory Column is another monument in Berlin that has reinvented itself from being the Prussian symbol of military victory in the 19th century to a tourist destination today.
This 67m high symbol of victory was initially located in front of Reichstag in Platz der Republik and was relocated to the Tiergarten's main roundabout by the Nazis. The monument stands for the victory of Prussia in the Franco-German war. Built by Friedrich Drake, the column is an interesting example of allegorical representations linking German traditional mythological symbols to its imperial days. All the sculpture , lettering and carvings on the column are representational of some facet of history. You can climb up to the observation deck for a spectacular view of the city.
