The Berlin Wall Memorial is a historical site located in the heart of Berlin, stretching along Bernauer Strasse. It preserves a section of the Berlin Wall and its associated structures and spans about 1.4 kilometers, featuring various installations, preserved sections of the wall, and historical displays. It vividly illustrates what life was like during Berlin's division from 1961 to 1989. A tower offers a panoramic view of the memorial site.
Though it has been completely demolished, this site has an original section of the wall, escape tunnels, vestiges of the border installations even today. The remnants along with the Documentation Centre provide an insight into factual data pertaining to the fortification and how it shaped the lives of the people on each side of it.
