A segment of the Berlin Wall has been converted into an open air gallery. After 28 years of its morose presence the Berlin Wall met its fate in 1989. While most of it was dismantled, a stretch along Muhlenstrasse, parallel to the Spree was converted to the East Side Gallery. Significant restoration work had to be undertaken over the years. The gallery not only stands for friendship and optimism, but all the freedom of expression. Artists from all over the world expressed that era's global euphoria through political statements, personal musings and artistic vision as illustrated on the wall.
