Port Olimpic, Barcelona Overview

Located just opposite the olympic village, on the east of Barcelona Port is Port Olimpic. This port is the entryway to the Barcelona beaches. The harbor has 756 berths for yachts and its entrance is can be seen from anywhere in Barcelona.

The local Barcelona Sailing Center provides sailing equipment for rent and different activities with qualified instructors. This place was built in 1990 during the renovation of this area of Barcelona. The architectural design was structured by Oriol Bohigas, Josep Martorell, David Mackay and Albert Puigdomènech. The sports marina was the site of the sailing competitions throughout the 1992 Olympic Games. The image of Frank Gehry and the two skyscrapers and golden fish became the symbol of the Olympic Port. Next to the Olympic Port, you'll find Barcelona, a fishermen's district made of narrow streets with the aroma of the sea. A refreshing walk from the Olympic Port will lead to the Catalonia History Museum, the Palace of the Sea, and Barcelona's Aquarium in the Costa Brava. The place is well known for the best seafood restaurants by the beach with a pleasant atmosphere.
