Located at a mere distance of 7 km from Phawngpui, Farpak is a place which provides picturesque views of nature. The place is a base for the trek up to the Phawngpui peak. This place is replete with lush green trees and a lot of fauna also habitats in this place. Some of the commonly spotted animals include clouded leopard and elephants. A large number of birds can be seen perches on the branches of the trees. Some of them include Sunbirds, golden throated barbet, Bamboo Partridge and grey sebia. This is a perfect place to relax and spend quality time amidst nature.

3. Sangau

Located at a distance of 30 km from Phawngpui, Sangau is another base from where you can measure the lofty Phawngpui mountain. This place is serene and quiet with a lot of scenic beauty. This place is a must visit because of its beauty and friendly environment. The locals living here are gregarious and make sure you stop by and interact with them. They will tell you the myths and stories related to this place which would be very pleasing.

4. Phawngpui Mountain

Even though the journey to the top of the Phawngpui mountain is difficult but this would be a thrilling experience for people seeking adventure. The whole trek is filled verdant trees and colourful blooming orchids and Rhododendrons. A lot of animals and birds can also be spotted on the way. The whole mountain feels as if lively and beaming with happiness and hence is a must visit.

Trekking

Trekking on the Phawngpui mountain will definitely be spellbinding experience as the panoramic and picturesque views visible from here will leave you awestruck. Prolifically spread over an area of 50 sq km, Phawngpui Blue Mountain National Park was founded in the year 1992. The name of this national park is kept after the lofty peak of the Phawngpui mountain which is also known as Blue Mountain.The place is surrounded by lush green trees and the picturesque beauty of this place will leave you enchanted. The melodious chirpings of many colourful birds echoes throughout the forest.Some of the birds include Falcon, Sunbirds, Dark rumped swift, Mountain bamboo partridge, Oriental pied hornbill, Purple cochoa, Black eagle, Waders, Larks and Pipits.

A lot of wild animals especially tigers are protected here. The national park is a home to a plethora of animals. Some of them include Goral, Serrow, barking deer, leopard, tiger, sambhar, Kaleej Pheasant, Hollock Gibbon, Rhesus Macaque, slow loris, Asiatic black bear, Mountain goat and langur. This place is a treat for everyone as you will be able to see and learn about different different types of fauna.

Phawngpui might sound like a strange name and is definitely not easy to pronounce but it comes from the Lai word Phongpi which means Phulpui in Mizo and which translates to grassland in English. It is also believed by many that Phawngpui was an abode of God.

By Air: The nearest airport to reach Phawngpui is Aizawl Airport which is well connected with all the major cities in India. Aizawl Airport is located at a distance of 118 km from Phawngpui. Many rental cars are easily available from the airport which will take you to Phawngpui.
By Rail: The nearest railway station to Phawngpui is Silchar Railway Station which is at a distance of around 185 km. Many rental cars are available from the railway station which will take you to Phawngpui.
By Road: Phawngpui is situated at a distance of 118 km from Aizawl. The road connecting the two places is free of potholes and is a easy drive. You can either rent a car from here or take your own car. Many private and government operated buses run at regular intervals to go to Phawngpui.
