The Ale House Inn is a pleasant and comfortable place to stay in Portsmouth. The lobby/common area is welcoming and cozy, with complimentary snacks and nitro cold brew coffee. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very good

Great Location. Small but comfortable room. Plenty to do within walking distance.

Great location. Everything was within walking distance. Great restaurants around. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Carpet in room could have been cleaner. Rooms are very small. A small ironing board was provided but no iron.

Staff is barely there but understandable with todays world.

There was breakfast? I dont think so.

While the elevator was inspected in July it doesnt seem up to code with all the noise it makes

Because its a Lark property, I had expected much, much better, especially on the amenities and hospitality front, altho

Location

The room was very plain and smaller than pictures presented. There was no staff on site during the entirety of my stay, except just as I arrived and he was leaving. No breakfast of any sort, a first for me at a Lark hotel. Parking was absolutely outrageous at $35 for what amounted to 18 hours. Actually shocked that this is a Lark property.

Very good

Good location. Staff was not present evening or morning but was quite responsive by text.

Room was tight; no space to open a suitcase except bed or the only chair. Coffee was available but no decaf.

I worked at Seacoast Rep for years back in early 2000s.. and this Inn was the Bow Street Inn... I had always wanted to check it out! So when I needed a place to stay... I came back up for the Halloween Parade and the added show of Gay Bride of Frankenstein at The Players Ring which I directed/choreographed... I couldn't believe my luck to be able to stay right back on Bow Street in the same space where I started my professional career... where I met the friends and creative cohorts who I still call family... so call it kismet or serendipity... but I count it as magic in my universe Thank you for accommodating me and my wonky hours.. And giving me space to lay my head as I returned "home" to Portsmouth! I always look to see if a room is available when I travel to the Seacoast!
