Stylish, practical, comfortable stay in the center of Portsmouth.

Location unbeatable. Stylish and very user-friendly. Combined the best of a large four-star with the intimacy of an inn, and it was easy to feel at home. Very clean, lovely.

Mattress was super firm and not comfortable

The hotel was clean and beautiful, service was exceptional

The mattress was super firm, probably the hardest mattress I've ever slept on. We weren't sure if the if was a new mattress or something, it really is the only reason I rated Thaxter lower. but then again a high end hotel should have a great mattress. We also slept in 2 other hotels during our trip, and the mattress at Thaxter was the worst in our travels for double the price of the other hotels.

Will definitely return and recommend!

Impeccable style with fun, luxurious, beautiful everything; super comfortable bed and bedding; gorgeous oversized shower with heated bathroom floor. Fully appreciated the self-serve tea/espresso bar in lieu of the normal terrible coffee in the room! It was super easy to find and to walk from the hotel to all areas of downtown.

Beautiful new hotel in a beautiful old city.

The hotel was clean, comfortable and centrally located. The shared kitchen lobby area was a plus for coffee, tea, water and snacks. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and there were many special touches that made us feel more comfortable. Definitely a must stay.

The bed was a little soft for my husband but I loved it.

Lexi and the entire staff at Hotel Thaxter are amazing!

Everything! From the moment we arrived to our moment of checking out, Hotel Thaxter did not disappoint!

Parking!!! However, its not just here. This is definitely a walkable location, so unless youre a fan of feeding parking meters, just pay for a spot.

Would absolutely book again.

The property was fantastic, we loved the decor and the design of the rooms. The heated floor in the bathroom was a nice touch to the large shower. The location was excellent, we could walk around the corner to 10 different restaurants and they also have reserved parking you can pay for so you can leave your car and forget about having to worry about meters, etc.
