Disappointing

Invading their privacy!

Communal area was clean and fresh and outside atmosphere was good with local cafes etc.

The dorm I shared had 3 girls staying there long term and therefore it ws home for them, including all their clutter and possessions. This made the dorm like a teenagers bedroom and as a guest staying just 2 nights I felt like I was invading their privacy. But also the conditions of things being the way they are meant all surfaces and shelves were full and I had no space.

Location was good, staff were very easy to communicate with, table tennis table was great, drinking water provided, rooms very clean.

Hard and short beds (couldnt fit a 6 foot person on it), no shower only a tap and bucket. Disrupted in the middle of the night a few times by staff coming into the room.

Highly recommended hostel in central location with good facilities. Exceptional value.

Helpful, friendly staff; abundant supply of filtered water to refill bottles; comfortable bed; reliable wifi; central location to go out and wander, including a 20-min walk to Cubbon Park, a beautiful green oasis with old trees; the small square by the hostel, with a few magnificent old trees providing a nice view from the top balcony. My choice to room share on my first few days in India led to meeting one roommate who is a truly special person. If you're happy sharing (bring earplugs if you sleep lightly), this is highly recommended.

This is not negative to the hostel, more the compromise of sharing a room: the woman staying long-term had covered every available communal shelf with her items, but was never there to speak to. Fortunately, each of us has a lockable wardrobe with a safe, so it was manageable.

Great location. Very old hotel that has a great reputation and attracts a very high class of local people for the wonderful restaurant in the grounds. It's an exciting place to stay. Thank you so much.

Friendly, but no hot water and dirty room

Fantastic location and friendly staff. They responded very quickly and gave a great answer to everything we asked.

The accomodation didn't let us know in advance that there was no hot water. For us that was a big thing, and after speaking to some of the people who were longer term residents there this had been the case for two months. They asked us to heat the water using a bucket and an element, but be careful not to get a shock.. The bathroom in our room looked like it hadn't been cleaned this year. Lastly the pillow and mattress left a lot to be desired, very hard, and I came away with bites despite not seeing a mosquito whilst I was there.
