Best time to visit : The best time to visit Ye Le Pagoda is early in the morning around sunrise or in the evening around sunset when the weather is pleasant.

What to wear : Women need to cover their shoulder at all times and wear knee-length attire. Sleeveless shirts and shorts are not allowed for both men and women.

Ye Le Pagoda History & Significance

Ye Le Pagoda, also known originally as Kyaikhmawwun Yele Pagoda was built in the third century BCE by King Bawgasena. Being one of the oldest temples in the country, it is home to many sacred Buddhist relics, inscriptions, paintings, sculptures and Burmese artwork which can be found in the galleries within the complex of the temple. The pagoda gets submerged during the monsoon when the Yangon river floods. The pagoda has rooms available for visitors wanting to spend a day or two.
