The Shiva Temple

The Shiva Temple in Velliangiri is extremely special to devout Shiva bhakts. It is believed that it was here that Shiva performed his Tandav or Cosmic dance on the request of his wife and consort, Parvati. This is why the land is said to be blessed with rare herbs and abundant natural resources. It is believed that Shiva-Parvati grant blessings to all who visit Velliangiri between February and May. Women between the age of 10 and 50 years are prohibited from climbing the mountain.
