When we hear the term bank we imagine it to be a very dull place. But the Ex. De Javasche Bank Soerabaia will leave you surprised! It was an actual bank during the Dutch occupation, which has now been converted into a museum and showcases a lot of interesting stuff like the banking hardware in the olden times, old Indonesian currencies and some Old Dutch equipment.
Sprawling over 3 floors, the bank houses rooms that display old currencies and antiquated bank equipment that is sure to spark interest amongst any visitor that walks through the building's large, colonial-era doors. Renovated in 2012, the broad sweeping lines of the building evoke sentiments of Dutch-era colonialism through its architectural styles, and this is seen in other buildings that are around the bank and is sure to be a perfect place to go sightseeing in Surabaya.
