Jammu and Kashmir boast the highest altitude railway network in India, and you can now experience the extraordinary journey of a passenger train navigating the snow-covered Baramulla-Banihal stretch in the midst of severe cold wave conditions and snowfall. The region experiences a bone-chilling -3.2 degrees Celsius in Srinagar and 4.6 degrees Celsius in Banihal, during winters and showcases the resilience of the railway network against challenging weather.

The Baramulla-Banihal stretch encompasses a total of 16 stations, connecting Baramulla to Jammu and the rest of the country.
Namely: Baramulla, Sopore, Hamre, Pattan, Mazhom, Nadigam Halt, Budgam, Srinagar, Pampora, Kakapora, Awantipura, Panjgam, Bijbiara, Anantnag, Sadura, Quazigund, Hillar Shahabad Halt. This crucial link, falling under the Jammu-Baramulla Railway project, is a testament to engineering marvels, including the construction of the world's highest railway bridge and India's first cable-stayed railway bridge.
