Hatgad Fort, located approximately 5 km from Saputara on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border, is a 17th-century hill fort built by Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Perched at an elevation of 3,600 feet in the Sahyadri range, it served as a strategic watchtower overlooking the Nashik region and the inner valleys of Gujarat. The fort features four sequential gates, a rock-carved Hanuman idol at the main entrance, and two perennial water cisterns named Ganga and Jamuna. A notable highlight is the large Sanskrit inscription, considered the largest on any fort in Maharashtra
