Purna Wildlife Sanctuary

Purna Wildlife Sanctuary is a dense forest reserve in Gujarat, known for its rich biodiversity and lush greenery. It is home to leopards, four-horned antelopes, barking deer, and over 130 bird species, offering a peaceful retreat into nature. The sanctuary is ideal for trekking, birdwatching, and eco-tourism, with the Mahal Eco Campsite offering basic lodging and local cuisine. The best time to visit is between October and February, when the weather is pleasant and the forest is at its greenest.

Now, it is an abode for leopards, rhesus macaque, bonnet macaque, common mongoose, Indian civet cat, porcupine, four-horned antelope and much other fauna. It is also home to around seven thousand species of plants. This is a great spot for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. As the sun sets, the distant voice of engaging tribal folk music and gurgling of rivers Gira and Purna add to the ambience. To enter inside the Purna Sanctuary, special permission is required like most sanctuaries and reserved areas.
