Q. I am planing to visit Ooty with family. Which is better option, to go by own car Or to go by public transport and then take cab over there?

Since you've not stated which city you are traveling from, let me tell you about Bangalore, which is what I know about from experience. Taking a car is the fastest way to reach in this case. The car (Read More)journey one way would be about 5-6 hours. Buses, on the other hand, would take about 7-8 hours and trains even longer. An advantage of taking your own car is that you can make planned stops along the way. For example, we stopped at Mysore for breakfast and visited the Mysore palace. You also cross the lovely Bandipur forest on the way, where we couldn't stop due to lack of time, but you should be able to if you plan in advance. Since we went there by our own car, I'm unable to comment on the ease of getting a cab in Ooty. Even if you decide to take public transport, I'd recommend that you take the road (as opposed to train) since the route is pretty.
