Old Town, Nice Overview

The Old Town of Nice is located just beneath Castle Hill. From spices to handmade jewellery and cosmetics; restaurants to stores and some local art galleries can be easily checked out while strolling around the Old Town. Promenade des Anglais, Nice Cathedral, Place Rossetti, and Lascaris Palace are some of the major attractions in the Old Town. There are several other stunning churches and city squares. It would take up to three hours or more to explore the whole Old Town.

As the Paillon River flows through the city in an underground channel, it borders the Promenade des Anglais to the south and the Paillon River to the north. Towering buildings are positioned alongside the Old Town's dark, winding streets. The multicoloured dome of the Cathedral of Saint Reparata (Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate) with its luxurious embellishments. Place Rossetti, a modest yet lovely square where the Nice Cathedral resides.

Lascaris Palace is a museum housed in a former mansion belonging to the nobility with old instruments on display. The stunning False Gate highlights the city's newest section. The passage's ceiling appears to have real gold decorations and is lined with marble.
