Kitengela Glass

Kitengela Glass is a working glass studio and open-air sculpture garden on the Athi-Kapiti plains near Nairobi National Park, about an hour from the city centre. Running for more than 35 years, it turns recycled bottles and scrap glass into hand-blown vessels, chandeliers, beadwork, and architectural panels, with a furnace visitors can watch in action. Glass and salvaged-metal sculptures are scattered through the grounds. A shop, the Glasstronomique café, and the separate Nani's Wonderland sculpture museum sit on site. Set near Ongata Rongai on Nairobi's southern edge, Kitengela Glass has operated as a working glass studio for over three decades, melting down bottles and scrap glass into hand-blown vessels, chandeliers, beads, and dalle de verre panels made and sold on site. Visitors watch glassblowers work the furnace, then walk a sculpture garden where glass and salvaged-metal artworks sit among acacia bush on the wildlife corridor bordering Nairobi National Park. The property also includes Nani's Wonderland, a separate sculpture museum, a suspended rope bridge, and the on-site Glasstronomique café.
