Punarjani Traditional Village, about 8 km from Munnar, is a performing arts theatre with live shows of two traditional Kerala art forms: Kathakali, the classical dance form, and Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial arts in India. It is a distinctive stop for visitors interested in local culture.
Notably, the word Punarjani means rebirth, and this traditional village is intended to revitalize the long-aged traditions of Kerala. The first show is the Kathakali performance depicting a stunning fusion of dance and drama. In the second show at Punarjani Traditional Village, Kalaripayattu, the traditional martial art of Kerala, is performed. Both these authentic performances are memorable experiences to watch. This village is an idyllic spot for art & culture admirers. It lets the visitors behold the cultural beliefs & heritage of the state by way of engrossing performances. Although visitors come to this cultural village for the fascinating Kathakali dance and Kalaripayattu moves, it also offers various Ayurvedic massage & calming therapy sessions.
