Kodachadri Hills serve as a stunning backdrop of evergreen forests to the town of Maravanthe. Located in the Western Ghats at a height of 4411 feet above the sea level, they also proves to be one of the good trekking trails, beginning at the South Kanara Forest.
Beginners or trekking newbies can easily undertake this trek. Since most of the expedition covers a forest landscape amidst low altitudes, chances of altitude sickness are low as well. The total distance is 14 kilometres to and fro.
Rail: There are no direct trains to Kodachari. The nereast railhead is located at Shimoga which is approx. 111 kms away.
Road: There are no direct buses to Nagodi village, therefore you have to a take bus from Bangalore to either Shimoga (310 kms) or Udupi (400) from where Nagodi is accessible via jeep or taxi.
Day 1- Bus Ride to the trek start point Hidlumane Falls- Mookambika Temple- Kodachadri Summit- Descend via Jeep Ride- Dinner and Campfire.After an overnight bus journey to Kollur, commence your trek early in the morning. Since it's only a two-day trek, the trip would be rapid but brisk. It might turn out to be cumbersome but worth it!
Day 2- Kavimani- Kavishaila- Bangalore
The trek covers several milestones. Once you start off from your base point near Sampekatte, you would embark on your accelerated journey.
After passing through lush green meadows and paddy fields, the adventurous trail begins. You come across Hidlumane Falls nestled in the forest zone which is a combination of 7 waterfalls. The path is challenging but truly rewarding with picturesque views of each waterfall.
