Maravanthe Beach, Maravanthe Overview

Located only 12 km from the main city of Kundapur, Maravanthe Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the city of Karnataka. Each and every person visiting the Maravanthe beach must witness the sunset.

Standing at this calm and unspoiled beach gives you a panoramic view of the wondrous creations of nature- unending deep blue seas, serene and silently flowing rivers and majestic mountains crowning the whole scenery. It offers a variety of choices ranging from lying down in the sun for the lazy ones to scuba diving and experiencing the aquatic life for water lovers! You may think that gazing at the swaying palm trees under the clear sky alongside the deep blue waters is vacation enough, but wait, Maravanthe Beach has more!

1. Swimming: The water at the Maravanthe beach is a very gentle and welcomes you in. The temperature of the water is in the Goldilocks' zone- not too hot, not too cold, just right. You can enjoy a perfectly healthy and revitalizing swim in these waters.

2. Scuba diving and Snorkeling: Looking at the water? Too mainstream. You can now look under the water! Explore the life underwater- the schools of fishes and the coral reefs. The marine life of this beach will astound you with its beauty and will make you want never to come up.

3. Boat Cruise on the Sauparnika River:  A relaxing boat cruise in the Sauparnika River is a perfect way to relieve your stresses behind. You can also take a dip in the river during the cruise. There are many temples along the shore of the river, and the boat cruise will take you to these spots too.

4. Belekal Theertha Falls: Another popular tourist attraction by the Maravanthe is the majestic Belekal Theertha Falls. This waterfall also goes by the name of "Govinda Theertha" and is surrounded by Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. The dense forest envelopes the water that plummets from a great height, creating a luxuriant and naturally beautiful scene for the onlooker. Theertha means sacred in Sanskrit, and a dip in the pool of this waterfall is said to cleanse your mind and soul of all negativity.

5. Shopping: Most tourists buy pretty and colourful conch shells and collectables made from conch shells. These are a speciality of this region and are an absolute favourite of the visitors at the beach.

Best Time To Visit Maravanthe Beach

It's best to visit the beach around the early hours of the morning and the sunset time. Due to the lack of many trees here, the harsh daytime sun will tire the visitors.

Kundapur Railway Station is nearest to the Maravanthe Beach at a distance of 20 km which is only 30 minutes by road. This railhead, however, is not a very busy one. A busier and easily accessible one is the Mangalore Railway Station which is only 110 km away, a 2-hour drive.
