Anegudde Vinayaka Temple

Anegudde Vinayaka Temple, Maravanthe Overview

Lying on a hill in Kumbhashi, nearly 22 km away from Maravanthe, Anegudde Vinayaka Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is believed that at this very site Sage Agasthya performed penance to attract Indira.

In fact, as per the legend, Bhimasena also killed Kumbhasura at the same place with a weapon given by Lord Ganesha. Thus, a temple was established here to honour the lord and was named as Anegudde. It serves as one of the 'Mukti Sthalas' of Karnataka. Ganesh Chaturthi and Sankastha Chaturthi are celebrated in the temple with great enthusiasm and a car festival is also held in the month of December with huge fervor.
