Kothi, Manali Overview

Kothi is a quaint village located about 15 kilometres away from Manali on the foothills of Rohtang Pass. A perfect camping destination, it draws tourists for adventure and recreational activities from all across the world. Hike Through Kothi Village

A hike to Rohtang Pass via Kothi Village is a perfect activity for adventure seekers. From Manali, one needs to drive to Kothi Village. From Kothi, the hike goes through the valley exploring the village. Hikers can take a break here or camp overnight. The next destination is Marhi, which is another picturesque location in the region and is located about 9 kilometres away from Kothi. From Marhi, hikers need to move forward towards Rohtang Pass via Rahni Nalla. This is a 6-kilometre stretch.

Some adventure companies hike till Marhi and provide jeep services to explore Rohtang Pass before returning to Marhi and back to Kothi Village. This portion of the trek can be covered in one day. In case the trek starts from Manali, and the route goes through Solang Valley - Kothi Village - Marhi - Rohtang Pass, the trek may take 7 to 8 days in total.

Best Time to Visit

Kothi is best explored between October and June which is the winter time, and the region receives heavy snowfall. Rohtang Pass is usually closed due to heavy snowfall, but tourists can easily reach Kothi Village by road to explore the village. Between March and June is summer season, when the snow melts and the natural landscape is exposed, making it easier to trek.

How To Reach Kothi Village Manali

Rented cabs are the best mode of public transport to reach Kothi Village which is located on the Leh-Manali Highway. Tourists can also rent two-wheelers/motorbikes which are rented on a per hour basis to commute between the two locations. If trekking from Manali, one needs to take the route through Goshal-Barua-Solang Valley to reach Kothi Village.
