Gili Kedis, Lombok Overview

Gili Kedis is an extremely small island in the Sekotong district, which lies to the West of Lombok. It is depicted by a tiny dot on the map of the region and remains largely uninhabited. It is also known as one of the secret Gili islands, with Gili Sudak and Gili Nanggu being the other two. It is a paradise for honeymooners and nature lovers.

The white sanded beach can be traversed on foot with the visitors marveling at how tiny the heart shaped island happens to be. The view from the center of Gili Kedis is breathtaking. The presence of a set of rough swings on the edge of the water makes the visit totally worthwhile and unique. The island is never crowded though and many tourists are elated to have the entire beach to themselves as they land on it early in the morning. It may be necessary to carry food and drinks as there are no stores on the island.

Things to Do at Gili Kedis

Walking- The island is not the usual tourist destination with no signs of commercialization around. One would have to be content with nature and unspoilt sea, surf and sand while on the beach. The only way to get around is by walking and visitors never tire of walking along the sea to reach the other end of the island. The glorious, colorful sunrise and sunsets are the best times to visit here with the photographers being able to capture the real magic of the sunlight falling on the water.

Watching Marine Life- The water is crystal clear and turquoise blue in color. There is absolutely no need for the tourists to dive into the depths in order to watch the marine live. On the contrary, the transparent water makes it possible to watch the the fish and other kinds of marine life including corals that grow in abundance here.

Swimming- Swimming in the clear water is natural and almost all visitors to the island participate in it during their stay on the islands. There is no real danger associated with swimming near the island as there are no rocks or strong currents to contend with.

Snorkelling- Tis is the most popular activity for the tourists who are offered by the snorkeling boats that cover all the 3 islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Kedis and Gili Sudak . There are no ATMs or money changing facilities on this island making it important for the visitors to carry cash while renting snorkeling equipment.

Kayaking- A good number of visitors hire kayaks to reach Gili Kedis from Gili Sudak and enjoy exploring the sea and its exciting marine life e route to their destination.

Best Time to Visit

The dry season between June and September is deemed to be the best time to visit the Gili Kedis island. Mny tourists prefer to end the year on the beautiful island as well and opt to come here in the last week of December.

How To Reach Gili Kedis

Most of the visitors choose to take the fast boat from Lembar port to reach Gili kedis in an hour while others prefer to drive through the Western Sekotong up to Tawun and then hire a boat for crossing over to the island.
