Uzumasa Eigamura, Kyoto Overview
A working film backlot for samurai drama that doubles as a theme park, with Edo streets, a replica Nihonbashi, ninja shows and costume rental. Filming genuinely does still happen and visitors can watch. Budget beyond the gate price: most individual attractions charge a further few hundred yen each, and the dress-up experiences cost considerably more.
Uzumasa Eigamura, or Toei Kyoto Theme Park is a theme park based on the history of Japanese film, and boasts of many famous movie sets, with samurai and ninja sets and costumes, and beautiful, realistic old Japanese sets. Tourists here have full access to all the immaculate kimonos, princess and ninja costumes, and may rent these costumes.
