Casa Romana, Kos Overview

Casa Romana, also known as the Roman House, is an excavation site that significantly displays the Hellenistic and Roman eras' architectural designs. The place was built in the second century, and its architecture and frescoes are its most notable features. The mosaic and other paintings date back to almost the third century AD.

One of the frescoes shows a panther attacking a bear, and its intricate designs and decorations inside, along with the ancient statues, add to the beauty of the place. Its internal layout has 36 rooms and a trio of atriums meant to let in light and air for the rooms close by. There is a little fountain in the center of each of these atriums. A tiny statue of Asclepius once stood in the first atrium's passageway. The floor of the second atrium is embellished with dolphins and a sea nymph. Its marble-covered walls are another feature. The most giant atrium is the third.
