Oyama Shrine, Kanazawa Overview
A shrine to Maeda Toshiie whose gate was designed in 1875 by a Dutch engineer, stacking a Japanese stone base under a European upper storey with stained glass that was once lit as a beacon for ships. There is nothing else like it in Japan, which is the whole reason to stop. Free, central, and a ten minute walk from Omicho Market on the way to the castle.
