Handicrafts are the most popular among the local products produced in Kampot in Cambodia. Tourists visiting the town often buy these handicrafts as souvenirs. The most famous crafts include the handmade products of corals and seashells and different types of bamboo-knitted containers unique to Cambodia.

Where to buy Kampot Handicrafts

Along the streets adjoining the Kampot river on both sides are plenty of shops offering a wide selection of local handicrafts. 
  • The area called Phsar Kronat or The Old Market  - You can buy crafts made of jute and bamboo, clothes, locally made basketry,  recycled bags, clothes and cards. Kampot pepper, jewellery and even Cambodian coffee. 
  • Coral and decorative seashell products are sold in the streets at the entrance to the Kampot river.
  • Also, some of the hotels and guesthouses in Kampot have small shops having dedicated collections of souvenirs consisting of locally made handicrafts slightly expensive than those in the market.

How To Reach Kampot Handicrafts

There are direct minibuses available to Kampot from Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap. It takes about 3 to 5 hours. If you are traveling from Phnom Penh, you can also take the train to Kampot. Cabs cost about 50 USD one way from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
