Kalpitiya Lagoon is one of the most beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka. It is the right place for kite surfing. Across the lagoon, you will find a lot of fancy hotels and restaurants. The atmosphere is a perfect getaway from your hectic life. Lately, a lot of tourists have been visiting here.

Activities like snorkelling and dolphin watching can be done here as well. If you're lucky, you might get a visit from a whale as well during your boat ride, even though that does come with a cost. And that cost is sacrificing your sleep as you have to be there early in the morning to catch all the action.

Kalpitiya Lagoon is a beautiful place to travel to with your family. It is also famous for its Kalpitiya Lagoon Resort. They provide you with all the facilities like fishing, diving, snorkelling, and whale-watching. It is within 3 meters of walking distance from the beach.

The main town is 5kms away from here. The best time to visit here is from April to October for kite surfing and from December to April snorkelling can be done. It is 165 km north from Colombo. Bus facility is available, and you can reach here within 4 hours. As a souvenir, you can purchase a bottle of arrack, which is a local liquor made from coconut.
