Casuarina Beach, Jaffna Overview

Deriving its name from the abundant casuarina trees found along the shore of the beach, the Casuarina beach with its soft golden sand grains and refreshing blue waters is located at about 20 kilometres from Jaffna. One of the things that lure visitors to the beach is crystal clear water and is free of any sort of pollution.

The Casuarina beach is on the Karativu islands, one of the largest islands in the peninsula. One of the reasons that the beach is a must-visit is because it’s tranquilising waves and soothing sand and its isolation from the cities provide one with such a calming effect that leaves them rejuvenated which is hard to find in the city’s hustle and bustle.

Casuarina beach is one of the safest beaches in the country due to its because its shallow waters and the absence of strong wave currents make it suitable for all age groups. Though it is safe to go in the middle of the ocean, it is advisable that the visitors accompany local fishers and trained professionals along with them. One can go there and find the rich biodiversity that exists within.

The visitors can also sunbathe and get a beach tan. Though the beach can be visited all year, the preferred time would be from January till September.

Best Time to Visit Casuarina Beach

The best time to visit the beach would be from January till September due to less likelihood for rainfall during these months and also the temperature recorded is moderately cold and always ranges from 25 Degree Celsius to 32 Degree Celsius. The visitors are advised to go to the beach during the day time as after 6 PM, the sun would start setting, and it is not advisable to stay at the beach after the sun sets.
