Panchalimedu, Idukki Overview

If legends are to be believed, then the Pandavas came here and stayed at this place during the period of their exile which is how the place got its name. How To Reach Panchalimedu
Panchalimedu can be reached by a 7 km hike from Murinjapuzha on the Kottayam Kumily route. Jeeps are readily available from Murinjapuzha. Also, Panchalimedu lies at a distance of 8 km from Peruvanthanam from where jeeps and autos are easily available.

A number of Ayyappa devotees camp here on Makar Sankranti to be a part of the pious Makaravilakku that appears in the Ponnambalamedu near the Sabarimala temple.
